What are the parameters of ethical decision-making, especially when different parties have different expectations of the interpreter’s role?

This workshop will include:

1- Brief review of codes of ethics for interpreters,

2- Facilitated discussion of several video clips of ethically challenging situations.  Interpreters will discuss how the interpreter in the video tape responded to each situation.

3- Finally, interpreters will break into three groups to discuss various ethically challenging situations ripped from real life examples in Albert Lea and Rochester, and then present their small group responses to the large group.

Time permitting, interpreters will create a decision tree for ethical dilemmas in interpreting.
